Snow-vember? Not quite yet, but expect the days to get colder. And the days will be getting shorter. AND this weekend the sun will be setting an hour earlier thanks to daylight-savings. “The sunset will be before five which will take some getting used to,” says Larry Weber. "But on the other end it's brighter earlier in the morning."
Migration continues with juncos, sparrows and others. And ground-dwelling animals are still roaming about as well. “Rodents remain pretty active at this time,” says Weber. "This week I saw beaver and muskrat and porcupine."
With the majority of leaves now fallen from the leaves, buckthorn becomes more visible in the forest. The leaves of the invasive stay green much longer, but non-invasives like mosses and ferns are also still hanging onto their green color.
Although some call it "Gray November" there's still plenty of vibrancy going on this month.
