MN Reads: "Opioid Reckoning: Love, Loss, and Redemption in the Rehab State" by Amy C. Sullivan

Historian Amy Sullivan relies a lot on oral histories.

So when her family was touched by the opiod epidemic, Sullivan set out to listen to the stories of the victims of the epidemic: families, loved ones, and friends.

What she found was the crippling effects of old ideas regarding stigma and addiction, but also the chance for the "rehab state" to create an entirely new model for treatment and recovery.
