Live from Studio A: The Social Animals

Dedric Clark and Tony Petersen of the Social Animals

Formed in Cloquet over a decade ago, this four-piece group fronted by Dedric Clark was well-known in the Twin Ports under various names and a rootsy, folk/pop sound. Eventually settling on a name and morphing into a more alternative pop/rock sound, the band has found wider success, and recently released a new album. With Clark now based in Nashville, opportunities to see the full band in Duluth have become rare; in what Clark said would likely be their last show in Duluth for the year, they performed on April 7, 2023 as part of the annual Mental Health Action benefit concert at the NorShor Theatre. The North 103.3 was a proud sponsor of the event, and we welcomed Clark and guitarist Tony Petersen of the band to our studios earlier that same day to talk a bout the band’s new album and upcoming tour and to share some songs live.
