The UMD Pre-Med Club has gotten into the habit of hosting two blood drives each year on the University of Minnesota Duluth campus. "We've been doing this for several years now," says marketing and events coordinator Josh Curry. "While it is hosted here at UMD, it is not strictly a UMD blood drive... Red Cross is open to anyone who is eligible to donate."
For newcomers to the world of blood drives, there are some facts worth mentioning. The typical donation amount in a single visit is one pint; an amount that can be used to save up to three lives. Curry, who has donated rough a gallon worth of blood over the years, had some questions before his first experience. "Does it hurt? It does not," says Curry.
The drive is happening on Tuesday, August 29th from 10am-4pm in the Kirby Ballroom. To sign-up, go to the red cross website, find the "Donate Blood" option, and search for "UMD." If you are on campus, look for posters with a QR code and sign up that way.
