In the early morning hours of June 12, 50 people were killed and another 49 wounded in what's being called the worst mass shooting in modern U.S. history.
But 60 people were shot to death last weekend. And 75 were wounded, according to Gun Violence Archive, including a 34 year old woman and her four children, aged between 3-14 in Roswell, New Mexico and two people were killed and two injured the same day in California before the perpetrator turned the gun on himself.
Joan Peterson is the co-President of the Northland Chapter of the Brady Campaign and she says the corporate gun lobby, including the NRA, is using a smokescreen of misinformation to create fear - fear that turns attention away from their profits and what they stand to lose by stricter gun laws.
