Basement Featured Album of the Week: DOMi and JD Beck-NOT TiGHT

DOMi and JD Beck album cover featuring a young person with long blonde pigtails wearing a green patterned matching jacket and skirt and another young person with short dark hair wearing a jean jacket and jeans with a backdrop of a painted scene featuring clouds above and a city skyline in the distance.

NOT TiGHT is the first album from jazz duo DOMi and JD Beck, and has been near the top of the Basement charts since being added! The new jazz team of drum prodigy JD Beck and French keyboardist DOMi break through with their modern, blended, and experimental styles .

The first single, released before the album, was “Take a Chance,” featuring popular rapper and R&B singer Anderson .Paak. Known for his work with groups like Silk Sonic, his collaborative and blended style fits very well with the track's smooth keyboard melody.

“Pilot” has been my personal favorite off of the album, featuring Busta Rhymes, Anderson .Paak, and Snoop Dogg. The synth keyboard lines and groovy bass lines give the song a dreamy feel. It's an easy smooth listen as Snoop and Busta Rhymes push the song forward with their more rap-styled verses while Anderson brings us back down to Earth with his choruses.

JD Beck’s amazing drumming style shines in songs like “Sniff” and “Not Tight,” featuring Thundercat. He pulls through with the bass as per usual, accompanying DOMi’s video game-esque keyboards, all while Beck’s drumming is holding steady through the song at impressive speeds.
