Philadelphia native (now based in Boston) G. Love came to Duluth for a solo show on January 9, 2018 for the opening night of Duluth's newest venue, Sound. Teague Alexy opened the night, then G. Love played two sets to a full house; the first set had a bluesier feel, and he paid tribute to two of his musical idols, Bob Dylan and John Hammond.
The second set had a more hip hop vibe, with the whole crowd singing along to Special Sauce favorites and a cover of Biz Markie's "Just a Friend."
KUMD's Christine Dean had a chance to chat with the artist by phone earlier that afternoon. He talked about the 25th anniversary tour with Special Sauce that will take up the first part of his year, and about the bluesy album he'll be working on after that.
