Compared to the rest of the nation, July in the Northland has been relatively cool. The average temperature for the month is on track to be fairly typical. The precipitation for July is a different story. Thus far, there's only been about a third of the amount of rainfall as is usually expected.
Whether dry or wet, hot or cool, the critters have been out and about. Larry Weber has been spotting bats, raccoons, and toads. Also worth getting excited about are the spider webs. "They've just been terrific," says Weber who notes that not all webs are created to catch insects. Nursery webs are constructed for mothers to protect their young.
With August less than a week away, prepare to start seeing signs of fall with migration, changing leaves, and cooler temps by the end of the month.
