"I saw the significance of color," says Bob Olen, horticulturist for the St. Louis County Extension and coordinator of the Spring Gardening Extravaganza.
This Saturday's Extravaganza will be focused on color. The theme, Color Your World, plays on all the different ways that a garden can be visually appealing, but more importantly, the nutritional and environmental value of a rainbow in our communities. Diversifying the color of the food we eat can be indicative of a healthier diet, and the colors in our yards attract different pollinators that continue to bring a necessary function to the local ecosystem.
The Spring Gardening Extravaganza takes place on Saturday, March 16th from 9am-4pm. The event will include keynote speakers in the morning, then thirteen workshops in the afternoon. For more information, visit the Spring Gardening Extravaganza Facebook page. To register, visit the St. Louis County website or call 218-733-2870.
You can hear Community Connection every Tuesday and Thursday at 8am on Northland Morning.
