"To me, it is my least favorite month of the year," says Tom Kasper of April. "Even though it's my birthday month." The unpredictable weather throughout April can be a bit of a tease to those in the Northland. Yes, spring is here, but only in a "kind-of" sort of way.

While we wait for spring, Kasper recommends getting to the greenhouses to peruse the variety and personal touch that local greenhouses offer. "If you talk to a lot of folks who own greenhouses or operate greenhouses, it's because they want to bring folks more choices," says Kasper. "You really are supporting your own opportunity to enjoy more in the garden."

In a post-covid world, more people are getting involved in gardening for the purpose of food. "That was initially a trend, but now that's become a way of life," says Kasper. Gardeners, new or old, can often times find a lot of knowledge from local greenhouse owners that will help hone skills and ultimately yield a better product.
