Astro Bob stopped by the studio today to talk about the cosmos. Despite the recent cloudy night skies there are a number of things to be excited about.
Large sun spots might be brewing up some significant solar flares that will aid in the likelihood of Northern Lights in the coming days. The particles take about a day and half to reach earth, thus giving observers time to prepare and predict.
For early risers, you'll have some morning company. "Mercury will be up," says King. "It will be facing... almost due east... almost an hour before the sun does."
Get a good look at Jupiter, too - it's as close to earth as it's going to get until 2129.
If that's not enough, this Sunday night the moon will be full. "The moon will rise for the Duluth area at 6:43pm," says King. "The sky's just starting to get dark, so the moon will make a nice bright presence at the horizon."
