The Environmental Protection Agency and the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers are publishing a final rule defining the scope of waters protected under the Clean Water Act of 1972. This final rule reflects consideration of the extensive public comments received on the proposed rule, and will "ensure protection for the nation’s public health and aquatic resources, and increase CWA program predictability and consistency by clarifying the scope of 'waters of the United States' protected under the Act." [Federal Register, Vol. 80, No. 124]
Chris Harwood interviews Gary Botzek, the Executive Director of the Minnesota Conservation Federation, about how the rule is being received by, and what it will do for Minnesotans.
