This Thursday at Sacred Heart, the Music Resource Center (MRC) is hosting an open mic as a way of marking the end of their spring music session.
But the end of one thing is just the beginning of another. With the last day of school on the horizon, the MRC is gearing up for summer. Program director Shawna Weaver is prepping for a full summer of music with youths. "The summer looks totally different for us," says Weaver. "Our bigger focus is definitely going to be on the camps." Each week will offer a different theme and give students the opportunity to work with area professionals.
"Kids can come in with zero experience, kids can come in feeling like they want to do this for their career," says Weaver. Introduction to instruments, songwriting, and band creation are all of the list for the summer.
