Synesthesia is a condition where one sensory or cognitive pathway is cross-connected with another (for example, hearing sounds causing a person to see colors). So with that idea in mind, Where's Art host Annie Dugan celebrates The Homegrown Music Festival by highlighting music-related visual art that can be seen in the Twin Ports. Tonight (Monday) at 6 pm at the Duluth Coffee Company is the Wolfskull Creative Musician Portraits Opening Reception, featuring portraits of area musicians and also, across the street, the Homegrown Photography Show at Blacklist Ales.
Tuesday (April 30) at 6 p.m. there will be a panel discussion, moderated by American Indian Studies professor Dr. Jill Doerfler, about the Intersectionsexhibit at the Tweed museum, featuring Steve Premo, Dyani White Hawk, and Karen Savage-Blue. The Intersections exhibit features a vibrant spectrum of new and old work by Native American artists in Minnesota, and runs through August 19. Prior to that, from 4 to 6 p.m. also at the Tweed Museum, one can view Coordinates, an exhibit created by the UMD senior design class.
A new exhibit is opening at Zeitgeist Arts on Wednesday night titled What Mental Illness Feels Like, featuring the photography of Barb Kellogg.
Thursday from 5 to 6:30 p.m. at the Red Mug Coffeehouse is the opening of Life In Havana, Cuba. A Photographic Essay by Tim Hammond.
