Niiyo-wiij-anishinaabeg or four friends, a new show in The Depot Great Hall, has opened and is up through July 24. Minnesota artists George Morrison, Joe Geshick and Carl Gawboy each took different artistic paths with their work but their journeys as leading Ojibwe artists in the 20th century brought them together. They welcome you on this journey with them, as the fourth friend.
Carl Gawboy is the surviving member of this exhibit and was invited to be a part of this homage by The Duluth Art Institute, St. Louis County Historical Society, and Historic Union Depot Corporation. He joins us on KUMD to share more about his work and journey as an artist.
The closing reception for Niiyo-wiij-anishinaabeg is Tuesday, July 24, from 5 to 8 p.m. at The Depot, located at 506 East Michigan Street in Duluth.
