Women's Words: May 5, 2013: Caity Shea Violette

Caity Shea Violette is a nationally recognized actor and writer based in Minnesota. She is currently completing her BFA in Acting from The University of Minnesota- Duluth. In 2013, Caity Shea won the Region 5 Kennedy Center American College Theatre Festival (KCACTF) Irene Ryan Acting Competition. Caity Shea's full length play Target Behavior premiered at the University of Minnesota- Duluth, and was a finalist for the David Mark Cohen National Playwriting Award, and the recipient of the 2012 National Partners of the American Theatre Playwriting Excellence Award at the Kennedy Center American College Theatre Festival. Caity Shea's ten-minute play Disconnect (2013, National Finalist) and Lily (2012, National Semi-Finalist) were recognized as part of the KCACTF Ten-Minute Play Competition and received concert readings. As an actress, Caity Shea has performed in numerous productions around Minneapolis, St. Paul and Duluth, including Our Town, (The Duluth Playhouse), Fashion 47 and The Lion, The Witch and The Wardrobe (Children's Theatre Company). Caity Shea's work has been seen across the nation in such cities as Washington D.C., Las Vegas and Minneapolis. When not at the theatre, Caity Shea is a nationally certified Yoga instructor and a kitten enthusiast.

Women's Words airs Sundays at 1:30pm and 3:30pm. Funding for Women's Words is provided by The Minnesota Arts and Cultural Heritage Fund.

Chris Harwood is The North 1033’s Production Director and (acting) Program Director, a morning/daytime host, and the host of Soul Village. He is also a musician, a music historian, an audio engineer, and an avid record collector.
