Jessica Van Stappen is an artist who will be exhibiting her work in painting throughout the month of August at Beaner's Central. The opening is Thursday, August 5th from 6-9 pm with Three Song Sunday, Jeffrey James O'loughlin, and Nick Brakel performing.

Van Stappen is a young local artist who has a passion for painting, and has the talent to project the ideas and visions from things such as dreams and the subconscious in her work. Looking at her art puts you into a whole new enchanting world, and allows you to imagine on your own what ideas are being presented. She speaks with Radio Gallery about her inspiration, and the way she has come to convey emotions into her art. She talks about her desire to make her art her work as a whole, and the process she is taking in order to do so. She has had shows in the past, but this is her first one in the local area. The opening is on Thursday, August 5th from 6-9 pm and will be featured throughout the month of August at Beaner's Central located at 324 North Central Avenue in Duluth, MN.

Former Program Director, Maija Jenson teaches journalism in the Department of Communication at UMD and was a part of KUMD 2008-2019. She hosted a weekly arts program "Radio Gallery." She shares a lifetime of public radio listening, degrees in journalism and art and 20 years of public radio experience with KFAI, WHA, WSUM and KUMD.
